As the ball of deadly fiery molten liquid raced past my head, I heard the sizzle of the ghastly poison contained within it. The burning ball left behind a rotten odour like dirty bathwater. The smell wasn't much assistance for my anger either.
'Surrender now, Arthur Underwood, or prepare to be destroyed under my power!' 'Never!' I shouted, my voice was shrill and bothersome 'will I be defeated by a fool like you Simon Lovelace!' Suddenly a new voice broke into the conflict. It had a softer but more panicked tone to it. 'Boys, Boys'! it was Mary, our best friend 'Stop fighting, it doesn't have to be this way! Come on put these down'.
She made a motion towards our silver magician staffs, which we obtained from our Masters at a younger age when we were officially named at the age of 12. Neither Simon, Mary or I moved. We stared at each other. "Perfect," I thought to myself "an awkward moment such as this and a surprise attack would be perfect. What attack could I use though? I favoured an attack where I could summon a small army of weak implings to do some damage to his protective shield.
After swiftly saying a few words of command, a small army of about 20 newly summoned implings was charging towards the surprised Simon Lovelace. By now he had very little time to react and was struck badly. He recovered quickly but had to cast another shield upon himself. I was just about to send forward something more powerful when...
'Boys!' It was Mary again 'please just give me a chance to explain what the truth is about these demons you have been conjuring and dealing with for the past month.' Simon responded with a snarl, 'Get on with it, I want to beat this weakling until his eyeballs bulge out through his ears'. 'How pleasant' there was sarcasm in Mary's tone 'now Simon, Arthur, there is no need or reason to be fighting each other, you are not each others enemy. I am trying to say that the demon Bodmin is lying to both of you and your real enemy is he'. Simon looked confused, 'But the things that Bodmin said about Arthur and his spying'. 'And the things he said about you and your evil plans Simon' I added. 'They are all lies told by the demon' Mary finished. There was a long pause and some obvious thinking.
'I knew I couldn't trust that rogue demon-' started Simon But interrupting Simon was a rather strong rocking gust of wind which blew in an unnatural way into the room followed by an unpleasant scent and finally an uncomfortably familiar face appeared, Bodmin was here. 'I have been listening to your pathetic conversation' the demon said 'and-' 'Don't listen to it' Mary cut off the demon 'It lies!' she cried. 'Wretched human' the demon flicked a spark from each of its fingertips at Mary. She dodged. 'You revolting, dense, thoughtless murder attempting demon! She has nothing to do with this and you tried to inflict damage!' Simon said with pure anger. Simon whispered over his shoulder to me, 'When I say now, you give it everything you got and I will do the same.' 'OK,' I whispered back. 'NOW!' yelled Simon Simon used a silver lightning attack while I used a powerful fireball spray attack which decayed holes into Bodmin and with this, the weakly shielded demon howled in pain and slowly dematerialised in an abnormal way. 'Is he dead?' asked Mary. 'I hope so and I hope he never comes back too' I responded. Then Simon uncomfortably said, 'We may never know'.
